Granny Smith Lane
Podcast Co-Creator & Co-Host
Interactive storytelling about the consequences a local community faces when their government places corporate interests above those of the citizens.
Dozens of interviews along with hundreds of hours of field audio were combined into a 14-episode immersive podcast chronicling the struggle of a WV town to discover how and why local government approved the rezoning of a historic apple orchard for a transnational corporation to build a high-polluting plant across from an elementary school.
This story covers the repercussions to a small community as friends and neighbors find themselves on opposing sides, and explores the broader context of long-avoided histories of racism, environmental degradation, and poverty.
